ANDREA MARIE SHUMATE, 24, went home to be with the Good Lord above on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2007. Andrea lost her year long battle to Sarcoma Cancer and proceeded to touch the lives of those around her during her courageous fight. Her passions in life were being a mother to her boys, her strong faith in God, and her love of baseball-which included watching her brother Stephen play his senior year for Klein Oak High School and her love for Craig Biggio. Andrea is leaving behind a loving husband, James Shumate, a US Marine who fought for our country in Iraq, and their 2 children Little James (3) and Jackson (1). Andrea is the daughter of Steve and Anthonett Wedderburn of Spring, Texas and Mike Mogensen of Magnolia, Texas. She is survived by her siblings Ashley Wedderburn and Stephen Wedderburn. She is the granddaughter of Tony and Jessie Barcelona of Houston, Herbert Mogensen of Tomball and Betty Wedderburn of Sydney, Australia. Andrea is also survived by hundreds of family members and friends. Andrea graduated from Klein High School in 2000 where she was an active member of the color guard and tennis teams. In lieu of flowers, Andrea's family requests donations to the Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation at 2260 West Holcombe, Suite 174, Houston, Texas 77030. Checks should be made out to the Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation with Andrea Shumate Tangible Support Fund written in the memo section. All contributions are tax deductible. Visitation will take place at the Klein Funeral Home on 16131 Champion Forest Drive on Thursday from 6-8 pm and then funeral will take place on Friday 3:00 PM at the Student Life Center at Fellowship of the Woodlands. Friends and family members are invited to a gathering on Sunday, June 3, at Strack Farms on Louetta to celebrate the life of Andrea at 2 pm. Thank you all for your support. Please visit www.Run4Andrea.com for more details and to leave a message for the family in the "Guestbook."
